A Paradise of Displacement:
An Immersive Archive of Being Together
IngenuityFest 2025
What if public memory wasn’t fixed in monuments, but grown in gardens, shelters, and scraps of shared experience?
At IngenuityFest 2025, Office of Public Memory, A Paradise of Displacement, and Culture Gardens offer a shifting terrain of collective imagination, an embodied archive built from the margins inward. Here, the act of remembering becomes a civic gesture: assembled, unsettled, and rooted in presence.
These three interlinked spaces invite you into a fractured civic dreamscape: the Office, a paper-strewn bureaucracy of voices of authority and those long obscured; a ramshackle Paradise, a constellation of makeshift shelters built from fragments, survival, and care; and the Gardens, a rough landscape of staked claims and newly seeded futures.
This isn’t a walkthrough—it’s a dérive, a place to drift. You might sit with a stranger beneath a sukkot strung with histories, sift through a filing cabinet of disappearing neighborhoods, or contribute your own weathered offering to a growing archive. Audio murmurs, flickers of light, and handwritten fragments offer company, challenge, or quiet—depending on where you turn.
Built from public submissions and civic residue, these installations trace the invisible systems that shape who is seen, who stays, and what is remembered. They do not aim to resolve these questions—but to hold them, tenderly and together.
We invite you to wander slowly. To gather with intention. To fall into rhythms not of spectacle, but of presence.
This is not only a space to witness—it's a place to co-compose the public memory and forward actions we need.
