IF CLEVELAND SPOKE

If Cleveland Spoke is an extensive creative research project transforming the St. Clair–Superior neighbourhood into a living gallery of civic voice. Led by UK artist Naomi Lord with Ingenuity Cleveland, it reimagines placemaking as an act of artistic inquiry, where residents, artists and institutions co-author visual, sonic and textual works that reflect collective memory and belonging.

Across a series of months, walking-based mapping, story-circles and visual co-design unfold into six modular street galleries and a constellation of indoor micro-exhibitions. Each rotation builds a shared civic archive of portraits, poems and found language gathered from daily life.

The project’s culmination at IngenuityFest 2027 transforms these stories into an immersive installation: projection, soundscape and sculpture playing the neighbourhood back to itself. Permanent outdoor galleries remain as lasting community assets, while archival replicas live on in libraries and museums.

If Cleveland Spoke treats artistic production as civic research and the act of sharing as art itself, slow, reflective and deeply human. More info soon.
